Driving down to the city, about an hour and a half away, Allie X, Canadian electro-pop singer-songwriter from Oakville, Ontario, shares her Halloween aesthetic at The Opera House in Toronto. Driving around finding parking, we saw a huge lineup of fans wrapped around the building as they patiently waited for doors to open at 7:00 p.m. Some fans were wearing merch, while other fans were wearing their best dark aesthetic outfits to match Allie X’s theme of her music. 

Walking onto the stage while playing the “Cape God” theme song, fans were screaming with excitement as her presence filled the room. Starting off with her song “Fresh Laundry,” Allie is a true performer, with the stage presence of a mini Lady Gaga. The setlist was mainly full of her 2020 Cape God album, since this was the five-year reunion tour. About halfway through her set, she brought Maiah Manser back onto the stage to perform a duet “Love Me Wrong.” The lighting was great, as it lit up the artists with amazing colours, creating great photo opportunities.

Allie X started performing her music in Toronto at the Underground nightclub and released her first 10-track demo as an independent artist. Allie’s most popular song is “BITCH,” with over 68 million streams on Spotify. Although it was not included into her set, she still incorporated a bunch of great releases from her music journey so far.

As Allie isn’t much of a talker on stage, she had the fans enjoying a night full of songs they sang along to, all while showcasing her incredible powerhouse chest-belting and head vocals. During the set, she had a piano organ near the back of the stage that she’d go and play every few songs. Singing her last song of the night, “Learning in Public,” and leaving the stage, fans immediately chanted her name for an encore. She returned for a two-song encore, “Off With Her Tits” and “Casanova.”  Driving back home at about 10:30 p.m., we played her music the whole time as we reminisced the entire night and how much of an incredible show it was. 

Maiah Manser, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, stunned the crowd with her angel sounding vocals as she hit every note effortlessly. She is great on stage and entertaining the crowd as well as having a lot of crowd participation. For her last song of her set, she got the entire crowd to sing one note, and she looped it on her musical looper. It was a great idea for her to use that tool during her set as a way for her to include the audience into her performance.
