On April 30th, 2025- Seven Hours After Violet released their newest video for “Float” to fully allow the listener to see the true meaning of mental health struggles. “Float” is one of the most haunting yet soul-stirring single’s that truly captures what an individual experiences when they are in a mental health crisis. The official video for “Float” came out at the perfect time because May is Mental Health Awareness month and this shows that even musicians may struggle and the only way they can voice those struggles in through music that fans can relate to. Taylor Baber’s clean vocals in this single is filled with despair and anguish that makes me as the listener understand him more of an artist. As a person who struggles with mental health being able to feel that in the vocalist’s vocals and the lyrics; it helps me realize that I am not alone. We all struggle at times in our lives or we feel like we forever will stay stuck in the internal sadness. “Float” is a haunting and introspective composition that delves into the depths of emotional emptiness which Baber’s ethereal vocals intensifies how depression can take a hold of someone. When the vocal’s get heavier in the single that could indicate the internal struggle of wanting to have hope everything will get better or that negative mindset that depression will take over you.
Serving as both a reflection and a lifeline, the video captures the weight—and occasional peace—of being submerged in the emotional currents of anxiety, depression, isolation, and hope.
“The song speaks to the threat of suicide, but more than that, it’s about hope—the push and pull between pain and recovery. We want this track to be a beacon for anyone battling those inner wars.” – Shavo
“Float is about the feeling of waking up with depression rooted deep inside you. Feeling like a ghost in a shell — existing, but not living. It’s about being consumed by the weight of the world without confronting the inner battles. It’s important for us to express our emotions and let people know they’re not alone.” – Taylor Barber
The video supports the non-profit, To Write Love on Her Arms, a movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.
