On May 9th, 2025- Ðisorient released their newest single “Know” and once the song started it reminded me of Kingdom Hearts which automatically pulled at my heart strings with the infectious melody. When the vocals started; I swore I was listening to a Dayseeker song with how addictive and dynamic Xavier’s vocals are that’s filled with emotional resonance. You can sense confidence within the vocals which helps deliver the message behind the single that listeners can resonate to. As a listener you can sense the navigation of the complexity of the emotions within the single that allows the listener to understand Xavier as an artist. The overall production of this single is very polished and attains authencity that allows the song to shine and evokes the mind of an individual that might struggle with having a relationship with their parent.

The song is about the dynamic of my relationship with my dad. Growing up, he was a pretty bad mentor and parent. Mental and physical abuse made me grow up hating him. But now that im older and he had apologized for those things, our relationship has changed from a father-son relationship to a genuine friendship and i find myself really admiring him and respecting him. In the song, I repeat the lyrics “now I know” multiple times. This is an indication of my new perspective of why he did thr things that he did. Not excusing his actions, but coming to a realization that he may not have known any better at the time. ” – Xavier Mejia

Lyrics:

Verse 1:

Never knew what I lost

Always just played the part

Learning to let go of

All the things that held me down

Fighting for what I thought

Kept me drowned in the dark

Help me forget the ways

I was taught to leave it all

Pre Chorus:

You always made me live on the edge

Afraid to take another step

I’ll go against what you project

Chorus:

I can’t look at it the same

Finding hope in a place that taught me pain

Never thought I’d see the day

No, now I know

Even when I’m feeling low

And there’s nothing to show

The man that you made

I’ve got nothing left to say

No, now I know

Now I know…

Verse:

Never knew where to start

Everything seemed so far

I really doubt you knew

Everything you put me through

Hard to break old habits that

Always kept me stuck in the past

I had every reason to

Walk away and not come back

Pre Chorus:

You always made me live on the edge

Afraid to take another step

I’ll go against what you project

Chorus:

I can’t look at it the same

Finding hope in a place that taught me pain

Never thought I’d see the day

No, now I know

Even when I’m feeling low

And there’s nothing to show

The man that you made

I’ve got nothing left to say

No, now I know

Now I know…

Bridge:

Now I know the reasons that

You took my pride, till I took it back

At the time I couldn’t see

All the pressure set me free

I never wanted you to save me

From your control, ’cause I cut your strings

I wanted more, but could you blame me

I’ll make sure that no one ever feels the same

Chorus:

I can’t look at it the same

Finding hope in a place that taught me pain

Never thought I’d see the day

No, now I know

Even when I’m feeling low

And there’s nothing to show

The man that you made

I’ve got nothing left to say

No, now I know

Now I know…

Outro:

Now i know…
