The U.K. rockers preview a four-song EP due in June as they plot their first North American trek in five years.
Elbow have released a brand-new single, “Sober,” the latest preview of their upcoming EP, AUDIO VERTIGO ECHO (the band’s fifth EP), which arrives June 6 via Polydor/Geffen. The four-song collection follows the Manchester group’s 2024 U.K. chart-topping album AUDIO VERTIGO, extending that record’s creative streak with additional material. In fact, all the EP’s tracks are set to be included in a forthcoming digital deluxe edition of AUDIO VERTIGO.
AUDIO VERTIGO ECHO features last year’s one-off single “Adriana Again” alongside three previously unreleased songs: the strikingly titled “Dis-Graceland 463-465 Bury New Road,” “Timber,” and the newly unveiled “Sober.” The EP will be available on limited-edition vinyl as well – including a standard white 12-inch pressing and a special red vinyl exclusive to Elbow’s official store, giving fans a tangible keepsake of this next chapter in the band’s catalog.
Frontman Guy Garvey says the new songs draw deeply from personal memories, describing the lyrics as “stories from my past – sometimes joyful, often dark, but mostly true”. The band approached the project with a rejuvenated spirit; according to Garvey, they’re “having more fun in the studio than ever” while revisiting these tales. “It feels like we’re having another go on the Waltzers after hours,” he adds, characterizing the EP’s after-hours creative thrill.
This fall, Elbow will cross the Atlantic for a long-awaited North American tour – their first stateside run since 2020. The 14-date trek kicks off September 26 at Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club and wraps up October 16 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Notably, it includes the band’s first East Coast and Canadian concerts since 2017, with stops such as two nights at Brooklyn Steel in New York and shows in Montreal and Toronto on the itinerary.
Tickets are already in high demand: the Sept. 27 show at Philadelphia’s Brooklyn Bowl has sold out, as has the Oct. 12 date at The Showbox in Seattle. The tour will also bring Elbow to cities like Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Portland, and more as they reconnect with North American audiences after five years away. Tickets for all dates are on sale now via the band’s official website. In the meantime, fans can stream “Sober” here and pre-order/save AUDIO VERTIGO ECHO ahead of its June 6 release.
