Global cello star HAUSER has revealed his new solo album CINEMA, due September 12, 2025. The Sony Masterworks record will reimagine “the greatest melodies ever written for classic films,” performed with HAUSER’s signature sound on cello and backed by the London Symphony Orchestra under conductor Robert Ziegler. The album spans 25 famous film themes from across cinema history – ranging from the sweeping “Tara” theme of “Gone With the Wind” to Billie Eilish’s Oscar-winning “What Was I Made For?” from “Barbie.” In announcing the project, HAUSER said he’s on a “quest to unite the world through beautiful music,” bringing together movie magic and his cello artistry to audiences worldwide.
Iconic film themes and first single
CINEMA’s tracklist highlights include a new cello rendition of James Bond’s Spectre theme. HAUSER – a self-declared Bond fan – has already released “Writing’s on the Wall” (Sam Smith’s Oscar-winning Spectre song) as the album’s first single. The album also covers classic scores like Lalo Schifrin’s original “Mission: Impossible” theme and romantic staples such as “The Ludlows” from “Legends of the Fall” and “Somewhere in Time” by John Barry. From big-screen hits to lesser-known gems, HAUSER says CINEMA is deeply personal: “This is a more personal album,” he explains, “because it includes some of my favorites and music I’ve discovered…Some of these pieces I would call ‘hidden jewels’ that people may not be aware of.” HAUSER is confident these “hidden jewels” will become audience favorites once heard on Cinema.
Album release and details
CINEMA will be released on September 12, 2025 on Sony Music Masterworks, with preorders available now. The CD edition features 20 of the album’s tracks, while the full digital release includes all 25 selections. Notably, the five tracks unique to the digital version include pieces like Marion’s Theme from “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and John Barry’s “Jamaica” themes – “We Have All the Time in the World” and “Main Title (I Had a Farm in Africa).” These distinctions give fans options for collecting the complete set of HAUSER’s cinematic arrangements.
