On April 4th, 2025– Emo/post-hardcore band Watersdeep from Washington, D.C released their newest single “Hopeless & Restless” that sounds like something we would’ve listened to in 2012 when music was at it’s prime in our scene. Between the heavier vocals as well as the cleans; this single is captivating that has the perfect blend of nostalgia and that modern touch. “Hopeless & Restless” in my opinion can be interpreted in different ways and the way I look at this single is as a person who struggle’s mentally myself, I can sense myself within the lyrics. Always feeling like I am drowning and will never catch my breath again. For those struggling; this single is for you because it help’s open up those layers internally to be able to finally heal. “Hopeless & Restless” is an emotional journey that evokes the listener to understand that internal struggles is normal and that it’s okay to ask for help from those around you. The instruments in this single is powerful yet subtle that adds depth and enhances the vocals to express the true meaning of the single as a whole.
“”Hopeless & Restless” is a song about realizing how broken the world is and how everyone around us is struggling more than we realize. Everybody has their own internal demons that they are fighting, and many of us feel that the future is very bleak. The song is about coming together with like-minded people who share your struggles and building a better future together. Lyrically, the song is a bit vague and can take on a lot of interpretations. To me, Hopeless & Restless is about thinking I’d feel more content with my life as I get older, but realizing that things don’t always get better.” – Watersdeep
