Rising country darling Willow Avalon has been both climbing the music industry ranks and climbing her way into hearts over the past year. But don’t let her bright red locks and enchanting Dolly Parton-esque warble fool you – the rising singer-songwriter is a spitfire and a force to be reckoned with. Avalon’s debut record Southern Belle Raisin’ Hell, released just this past January, has made waves in both the country and indie-pop scenes alike. From the heartfelt “Tequila or Whiskey,” to the cheeky “Yodelayheewho,” to the old-time country “Gettin’ Rich, Goin’ Broke,” the album is anything but ordinary and blurs the lines of genre while remaining true to Avalon’s country roots.
“The Actor,” a devastatingly raw lament of a relationship with a dishonest lover, garnered critical acclaim and the title of “must-hear new country song.” Recently, Avalon teamed up with fellow country star Charles Wesley Godwin for a reimagining of the song, which sees Godwin turn the story on its head as he offers the opposing point of view. The release follows a surprise appearance during Zach Bryan’s headlining set at Stagecoach last month, where Avalon performed “I Remember Everything” alongside Bryan, taking over for Kacey Musgraves’ portion of the song. Avalon also guested on Waylon Wyatt’s set to perform their new song “Smoke and Embers” together.
Avalon currently has a slew of tour dates booked across the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, with both headliners as well as support slots for Zach Bryan and a handful of stops with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival. Known for her unique and captivating vocal tone contrasted with a sharp wit and sense of humor, Avalon has refined her live performance to create an enthralling experience for all – whether she’s headlining a club or opening at a sold-out arena. Avalon has blazed her own trail as she redefines modern country music in a way that is simultaneously relatable on such a personal level while still retaining the charm of classic country, and is sure to have a landmark year ahead of her.
