Chicago psych-rock group, Daisychain, has released their newest single, “Rivers,” in anticipation of their debut album All In A Name on June 27. Their sound is reminiscent of 1990s and early 2000s rock, and their producer, Sylvia Massy (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool), helps them achieve their target sound. “Rivers” is a guitar-heavy, bass melody with vocals that echo throughout the song. The vocalist, Sophia Williams, describes the song as the embodiment of “unspoken words and dynamics between two people. It describes the static energy that you feel when you say one thing, but the words you really want to say hang in the air around you.“
“Rivers” is also accompanied by a music video that flips between their clean apartment and a desolate, white room. It brings together the idea of the dynamic between two people – how different what you say versus what you feel can be. Everything clicked together for the group, and their chemistry throughout the song and video is unmatched. Daisychain is not afraid to play with their sound, giving listeners complex and unique music that cannot be found in mainstream media.
Daisychain is currently on their “She’s A Freak” tour throughout the Southwest United States, and recently added the Midwest in their second leg. In the excitement leading up to their debut album All In A Name, you can stream “Rivers” on all streaming platforms and pre-save their album here.
