Okay, so if you haven’t heard of meg elsier, then where have you been? You’ve probably been missing the next Sjowgren or Tessa Violet!
Since you haven’t been paying attention to meg, last year she came out with her debut album spittake. Also, meg and I did an interview that same year! BUT I never published it, because I messed up and could never find the recording… except for the last 15 minutes…
“I wanted to call it ‘spittake,’ I always knew I wanted to call the album that. So how do you cut the title track off of an album?… And then, we had this idea that is not new, but I do think it is interesting… Why not use the (1-minute) demo?!” -(unreleased) interview [November 22, 2024]
Following this critically acclaimed debut album, meg is planning to come out with more out of her bag of goodies. The rising star is set to unveil her newest track “sportscar [scrapped]” on June 18 as well as the deluxe edition of spittake on July 25 via Bright Antenna Records.
“sportscar [scrapped]” is a sleek, emotional indie-pop cut with alternative rock undercurrents. The track captures the emotional burnout of your early 20’s with striking imagery and precision.
“I was really identifying with my beat-up car my mother gave me. It was this thing handed to me that I treated like shit… But that kinda was my life at the time. Something that was shiny and fast, a veneer; but if you checked under the hood, it was burning out.” -meg on “sportscar”
May I say, at this point you have no reason to not listen to this clever lyricist and amazing sound that has garnered attention from the likes of DIY Mag, Ones to Watch, and even CLASH. I should add, if you ever have the absolute pleasure to meet her – a down-to-earth and amazing young lady.
“I think there is a difference between performing me, and human me… I’m incredibly introverted. I need my space, my time, and I need a lot of it to sort shit out. Though, when it comes to performing or talking about something I’m passionate about, I think I get a little like… LET’S GO!… So I flip a lot… I’m an INFP.” -(unreleased) interview
