The 5 things we can’t wait to see at Levitate Music Festival 2025

Levitate Music & Arts Festival 2025 is now just around the corner, returning for its 13th annual celebration on July 12–13 at the Marshfield Fairgrounds in Massachusetts. This homegrown festival promises an eclectic weekend of music, art, and community vibes. The lineup is topped by hometown reggae heroes Stick Figure alongside fan favorites Dispatch and The Revivalists, with dozens of other artists spanning genres from funk and soul to indie rock and reggae. And music is only part of the magic. Levitate also boasts a Creators Market full of local artisans, live art installations, and delicious food trucks. Whether you’re a longtime attendee or a first-timer, here are five things we absolutely can’t wait to experience at Levitate 2025:

1. Thundercat’s funky space jam

If there’s one set that’s sure to shake up the fairgrounds, it’s Thundercat. The L.A.-bred bassist (real name Stephen Bruner) is a multi–GRAMMY Award-winning virtuoso known for his mind-bending blend of jazz, funk, and R&B. Thundercat’s inclusion adds a cosmic dose of groove to Levitate’s traditionally rootsy lineup, and we can’t wait to be transported by his bass wizardry (seriously, his live sets are something you have to experience at least once). Whether he’s laying down the funky riffs of “Them Changes” or recording with Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat’s set is sure to be a must-see journey into outer-space funk.

2. Lawrence’s pop dance party

Get ready to dance when Lawrence hits the stage. This New York-based brother-and-sister duo Clyde and Gracie Lawrence (along with their college friends and bandmates) brings an infectious energy that’s impossible to resist. Sure, they’ve taken their share of online heat this year for leaning too hard into their theater kid energy, but they’ve fully owned their reputation. And hey, not every band can boast they have a Broadway star singing lead vocals. After a short stint starring on “The Sex Lives of College Girls,” Gracie was cast in “Just in Time” on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award this year. Between Gracie’s quick rise to fame and Lawrence’s album charting, I’m still scratching my head at why the most popular band on the lineup isn’t a headliner.

3. Artisanal treasures galore

Levitate isn’t just about the music. It’s also a haven for art lovers and shopaholics. The Creators Market at the festival is set to host over 60 artisan vendors each day, making it the perfect place to explore between sets. From hand-blown glass and locally thrown pottery to original artwork and funky apparel, you’ll find all manner of unique creations at this celebration of creativity. Browsing the market is an experience in itself. You get the chance to meet the makers, support small businesses, and maybe even watch a craft demonstration. Whether you’re eyeing a cool new piece of jewelry, a fresh tie-dye, or some beautiful wall art, the Creators Market is a must-see. Pro tip: Save some cash (and bag space) for the goodies you’ll inevitably want to take home. Your future self will thank you.

4. Lily Fitts – New England’s rising star

One of the festival’s most exciting up-and-comers is Lily Fitts, a New England singer-songwriter who’s quickly making a name for herself. In fact, the new Levitate Foundation Songwriter’s Stage is anchored by special guests Hans Williams and Lily Fitts, two of New England’s most popular songwriters. Fresh off releasing her debut album Getting By this summer, Lily has captivated listeners with a blend of indie-folk and alt-country, and her early singles have already amassed millions of streams online. She’ll be gracing Levitate’s intimate Songwriter’s Stage (catch her set on Sunday, July 13th), where her heartfelt lyrics and honeyed vocals are sure to shine. If you’re craving a break from the big crowds, swing by to support this local talent. You might just witness a star in the making.

5. Live art & murals in action

One of the things that truly sets Levitate apart is its immersive live art experience. All weekend long, you’ll find live painters and muralists turning the festival grounds into their canvas. In fact, over 15 live and experiential artists from around the globe will be contributing to murals and large-scale art installations on-site. This means as you groove to the music, you can also watch vibrant artwork come to life in real time. Levitate has always put a big emphasis on art and creativity, so wandering around you might stumble upon a new mural being painted or interactive art pieces that invite you to participate. From colorful street-art style paintings to eye-catching sculptures, the festival becomes an open-air art gallery. Be sure to take a stroll and soak in the creative vibes (and snag some selfies with the finished murals!)

Bonus Tip: Of course, this is just a small taste of what Levitate 2025 has to offer. There’s plenty more to look forward to from enjoying delicious eats at the food trucks to the family-friendly fun in the Kid’s Zone. With such a diverse mix of performances and activities, the festival truly offers something for everyone. We’ll be on-site all weekend covering the action for Concert Chronicles, so if you spot us in the crowd, come say hello! We’ll have free Concert Chronicles merch to give away to fellow music lovers. Can’t wait to see you at the fairgrounds – happy Levitate!
