On June 26, 2025, Insular released their newest single “KIETAI” that is filled with unholy breakdowns throughout the whole single that capture the essence of mental illness and how it can become destructive when you don’t take a hold of your life. This single has such emotional complexity to it that it allows the listeners to embrace the true reality of how others perceive depression and what it does to them. “KIETAI” has compressed heavy vocals that are the perfect perception of what depression and destruction might sound like. The instrumentation in “KIETAI” escalates the deep emotions of this single and enhances the brutality of the vocals with the consistent guitar chugs and the slow, heavy tempo of the drums at times. Between the vocals and instrumentation, “KIETAI” is an emotionally intense single that emphasizes a cathartic feeling to the listener.
“The song is about the cyclical nature of depression and how it affects your perception of yourself and how you believe others to perceive you. You convince yourself to feel like succumbing to the negative thoughts and pressure would be easier than to push through, and that you’re a burden who can only self destruct. The depression and self destruction is the easier reality to accept and it gives you a reason to push away your loved ones because you believe you’re undeserving of anything positive in your life” – Insular
“The song’s meaning to me is coming to terms with accepting how mental illness has affected me and identifying that I have suffered and that I need to hold myself accountable in order to understand my pain” – Bryan Knightly
