On May 22, My Morning Jacket released the surreal music video for their song “Everyday Magic.” This music video was creative, colorful, and full of funky experimental edits. The visualizer reminded me of the video for Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel, which was one of my favorite music videos growing up. It’s directed by Amanda Kramer and beautifully complements the emotion of the writing with its whimsy. “The song, ‘Everyday Magic,’ came from meeting someone who taught me to see the magic in the simple things we often take for granted,” says My Morning Jacket’s vocalist/guitarist Jim James. You can watch the video for “Everyday Magic” below!
My Morning Jacket formed in 1998 in Louisville, KY, and on March 21, released their tenth studio album and first full-length collection in over three years, is. They’re a five-piece band featuring vocalist/guitarist Jim James, bassist Tom Blankenship, guitarist Carl Broemel, drummer Patrick Hallahan, and keyboardist Bo Koster. Goodman on lead vocals. Earlier in May, My Morning Jacket closed out the 2025 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival with a performance hailed by Relix for its “undeterred energy.” During the set, the band played essential tracks that cover their almost three-decade-long career and honored New Orleans’ treasured musical heritage with first-ever renderings of Fats Domino’s “Walking To New Orleans.”
