Visionary Icelandic artist Björk is bringing her most ambitious stage production to date to homes around the world with the first-ever physical release of Cornucopia, arriving October 24 via multiple formats, including 3LP, 2CD+DVD, 2CD, standalone DVD, and Blu-ray. The announcement follows the global theatrical release of Björk: Cornucopia, which was praised by critics as a stunning fusion of sound, spectacle, and visceral immediacy.
Originally premiering in New York and touring globally, Cornucopia was conceived as a “sci-fi pop concert” and has since been heralded as one of the most visually and sonically audacious live performances of the modern era. “Cornucopia might just be her masterpiece,” wrote NJ.com, while The Guardian called it “a spectacular vision of Utopia.”
“I am so thrilled to share the film for my concert Cornucopia with you,” Björk shared. “This has been a long journey with hundreds of people helping. I am so beyond enormously grateful to every single one of them. I feel the modern concert film is a matriarchally friendly construct, welcomed in the current climate—where female musicians can share their worlds uncorrupted.”
Directed by Ísold Uggadóttir, Cornucopia encapsulates Björk’s unmatched ability to merge technology, nature, and raw emotion into a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience. The film showcases musical arrangements, production, and performance by Björk herself, underscoring her hands-on approach to creative direction.
A cohort of visionary collaborators helped bring the project to life. Visual co-creative direction was led by James Merry, with additional visual work from Andrew Thomas Huang, Gabríela Friðriksdóttir, Nick Knight, Tobias Gremmler, Pierre-Alain Giraud, and Warren Du Preez & Nick Thornton-Jones. The result is a kaleidoscope, otherworldly journey through sound and image.
The production team features Sara Nassim and Kat Mansoor as producers, Bergur Þórisson as musical director and re-recording mixer, Artur Tort on cinematography, and Walter Mauriot on editing. The film is produced by S101 and Snowstorm, in association with Level Forward, which also acted as impact producer.
The executive producers include Derek Birkett; Adrienne Becker and Roger Clark for Level Forward; and Davíð Helgason for Foobar.vc, with co-executive producers Ian Wheeler for Talkhouse, Susan Lord, Brogan Bamborgan, Benjamin Ratz, and Sigrid Dyekjær.
Björk’s Cornucopia is not just a concert – it’s a revolutionary piece of performance art. Melding themes of environmental awareness with futuristic staging and breathtaking visuals, the work challenges traditional notions of what a live show can be. Rolling Stone described it as “a spectacle of cutting-edge sound and image,” while NME praised it as “an audacious, expectation-disrupting spectacular from an artist unbothered with people-pleasing.”
Pre-order for all formats are available now, inviting both die-hard fans and new listeners to experience the ethereal wonder of Cornucopia from the comfort of home.
