Waterparks returns with introspective new single “Red Guitar”

Call off the search. Waterparks is back! The Houston-born genre-shredders return today with their introspective and powerful new single, Red Guitar,” marking the start of a bold new era for the trio. Fresh off their intense as ever 2024 international headline run, and now armed with a brand new record deal via BMG and management with Range Media Partners, Waterparks is reloaded, recharged, and ready to set the world back on fire.

“Red Guitar” is everything fans have come to love – and lose their minds over – from Waterparks, unapologetically emotional, instantly anthemic, and just unhinged enough to keep you guessing. The song lands ahead of the band’s upcoming main stage performances at the U.K.’s Reading and Leeds Festivals this August, where they’ll be unleashing new music to thousands of screaming fans.

Lead vocalist Awsten Knight puts it in no uncertain terms:

“This is the first song back from the best band in the world, Waterparks. After a year of trials and tribulations, we have arisen from the smoke, like Captain America — maybe Iron Man instead. I haven’t seen most of those movies. However Infinity War ended, probably. RIP Ant-Man. This is the best song from a band in the last 10 years, ask anyone. Either this song or the next one will be our biggest one, again, ask anyone. RIP Iron Man. Stream the song until we make physicals and then go buy one of those. It’s a plaque attack, baby. I love you. God help us all. Thanks!”

If that sounds like a manifesto, that’s because it was meant to.

Red Guitar” follows the massive success of 2023’s Intellectual Property, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart, cracked the Top 10 in both the U.S. and U.K., and fueled sold-out shows from The Palladium in Los Angeles to Terminal 5 in New York City. And while Waterparks has never played by the rules, this latest release might be their most emotionally direct offering yet.

It’s reflective. It’s massive. It’s the sound of a band fully in control of their own story, only now, they’re ready to embrace that completely.

Waterparks, which consists of Awsten KnightOtto Wood, and Geoff Wigington, continues to cement their place at the top of the alt pop food chain. They’ve graced the covers of V ManAlternative Press (twice!), and Kerrang!, and they’ve built a global fanbase that treats each new song like a rare Labubu drop.
