Hardcore heavyweights Hatebreed just dropped their first new track in four years, and it hits like a cinder block to the sternum.
Titled “Make the Demons Obey,” the single made its debut via SiriusXM Liquid Metal and proves the band hasn’t lost an ounce of their trademark ferocity. It’s a riff-packed, pit-friendly hammer of a song, loaded with throat shredding vocals, mosh ready breakdowns, and the kind of positive mental attitude messaging that only Hatebreed can make sound this furious.
According to frontman Jamey Jasta, the band went all in:
“We’ve managed to push the envelope and surpass our expectations. This is the most excited I’ve been for any Hatebreed release.”
Drummer Matt Byrne echoed that energy, calling the track their fastest and most aggressive material to date, a tall order for a band already known for bulldozing every venue they hit.
And speaking of venues, Hatebreed is currently storming stages across the U.S. on the resurrected Summer Slaughter tour, back in action for 2025 with a blistering lineup of the underground’s most brutal rising stars. The tour wraps July 28 in Grand Rapids, but not before leveling cities coast to coast with help from Fugitive, Gridiron, Malevolence, Snuffed on Sight, Escuela Grind, Incite, and Bleeding Through on select dates.
There’s also a handful of shows alongside Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, and GWAR mixed into the run, because why not throw more gas on the fire?
Meanwhile, guitarist Wayne Lozinak is temporarily sidelined after being diagnosed with a benign meningioma while overseas. Surgery is on deck, and the band fully expects him back in fighting shape soon. All the best to Wayne as he heals up, the pit will be waiting.
And while the band hasn’t announced a label partner just yet, they’ve made it clear: new music is coming. They’re going DIY for now, self-funding the album and rolling out singles as they go.
