hey, nothing releases newest single, “Black Bear”

hey, nothing rounds off the month of July with their latest single, “Black Bear,” continuing their stories of overcoming difficulties of life – using the black bear as an allegory of their struggles and the strength one needs to conquer them. Tyler and Harlow are a powerful duo, creating beautiful chords and putting a sense of power in each song. They show the dynamic between fearing the bear and its capabilities, but finding the courage to face it head-on and beating it. Displaying the bear, then wondering if anyone will visit the grave, shows how trauma can become one with us—even when it’s supposedly laid to rest.

“Black Bear” is uplifting and inspirational, while still having the laid back sound that can accompany any indie or emo playlist. It creates a space to both soothe and motivate listeners in their time of need, those wishing to show how tough they can be, yet also finding peace in music, showing that it’s normal to have mixed emotions about the past.

Coming into fame with their 2024 EP, Maine, hey, nothing established their unique vocals and complex instrumentals, leaving listeners coming back for more. Throughout 2025, the duo has released several singles and a new EP, 33°, as well as announcing their headlining tour “Big Jaunt.” Alongside their headline tour, they will be opening for Cage the Elephant during their 2025 U.S. tour.

hey, nothing is a small but passionate group, paving the way for the Midwest emo scene. They bring raw emotion and experience into every song, and “Black Bear” is an exiting edition to their discography.
