Hard Summer this year was absolutely no joke. Between the relentless heart and the shoulder-to shoulder crowd at the Green stage, it could have been overwhelming, yet it turned out to be one of the most unforgettable festivals I’ve ever experienced!
Hosting a music festival in one of the busiest parts of Los Angeles in early August, the heat is just inevitable to avoid. Still, with only being able to attend the Sunday date, from the first opening sets at 2 p.m. to the very last headliner of the night, the energy never dropped! Even sets like Linska and Riordan at the Hard Stage earlier on in the day drew such massive crowds from all the passionate fans.
A HUGE thank-you goes to Insomniac ground control and security for their professionalism, approachability, and consistent presence. They made it so easy to find water refill stations, get assistance, or to just simply feel supported in such a packed festival. There was also such a diverse amount of food vendors that I could talk about for days, from your regular fries and burgers to pupusas to Filipino smash burgers. And yeah, it was that good.
Also, the check-in process was seamless. Arranging the off-site credential pick up improved the flow of traffic way better, especially with another huge show happening at the Forum across the way. I was in and out of getting my credentials in under 10 minutes.
Now, the music itself was exceptional. Dom Dolla, Gesaffelstein, I Hate Models, and Deorro, just to name a few, delivered some of the best sets I’ve ever seen in EDM. Experiencing it all through VIP elevated the weekend even further, with consistently clean restrooms, quick access to amenities, food, and refill stations, plenty of room to recharge and cool off—and yes, there was a pool.
Was it crowded? Oh definitely. Was I sweating the entire day? No doubt. But the organization, effort and passion from the festival-goers, the production team, and artists themselves transformed a hot grueling day in the middle of Los Angeles to one of the most unforgettable festival memories I’ve ever had!
