New York nightlife architect turned global provocateur The Dare has dropped his brand new dance EP, Freakquencies: Volume 1, now streaming everywhere. The four track project features the pulsing lead single “Tambourine” alongside fresh cuts “Kick,” “Modelizer,” and “Exhilaration.”
“This is the first in a series of EPs aimed directly at the dancefloor,” The Dare explains. “These tracks were made for and spun at various Freakquencies parties around the globe. They marry some of my latest and greatest loves: French touch, big beat, electro, and acid. Whatever gets you there.”
The EP is an extension of his now legendary “Freakquencies” party, which started in the basement of Manhattan’s Home Sweet Home before scaling into a globe trotting phenomenon. What began as sweaty late night gatherings has exploded into sold out events across Mexico City, London, Paris, Barcelona, Los Angeles, and Brooklyn’s most iconic venues including Public Records, Elsewhere, Knockdown Center, and 3 Dollar Bill.
Guest DJs have included the likes of Doss, Danny L Harle, Dylan Brady, Kelly Lee Owens, and Fcukers, with upcoming Freakquencies nights in San Francisco and Austin set to feature 2manydjs, Blood Orange, and more.
Freakquencies: Volume 1 follows The Dare’s headline grabbing year of festival domination and high profile collaborations. Recent sets include Coachella, Primavera Sound, and Lollapalooza, where he appeared as “Sally” during Role Model’s performance. He’s played back to back with Solomun at Pacha Ibiza, supported Justice in California, and will soon headline Boiler Room Vancouver alongside Tiga, Avalon Emerson, Danny Brown and more.
This fall, The Dare continues with headline shows across the U.S., capped by a major performance at Austin City Limits in October.
The EP arrives on the heels of What’s Wrong With New York?: Afters, the deluxe version of his debut album that earned praise from NPR, The New York Times, PAPER, and more. His breakout single, “Girls,” remains a juggernaut with 63M+ Spotify streams, joined by fan favorites “Perfume” and “Good Time.“
