On Monday, Only The Poets played two shows at a sold out Deaf Institute as part of their ‘Going Back to Where it Began‘ U.K. tour. This tour was put together to celebrate the beginning of their journey as a band, playing at the same venues as on their first ever tour. They started their tour off in London on the July 27, playing two shows on the same day in Colours Hoxton and continuing that trend to the September 1 show in Manchester. Last night, they played only one show in Oxford at The Bullingdon, before their two shows tonight at Joiners in Southampton and finishing off this tour in the Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham on September 4.
The setlist curated for this tour, in my opinion, was absolutely fantastic; they played songs from their upcoming debut album And I’d Do It Again, older releases, and ended on one of their demos – “emotional.” I think this setlist worked really well, as they played enough old songs to work with the idea of this tour – going back to where it began – while simultaneously promoting their newer music and upcoming releases.
Setlist:
- miserable
- Mindset
- Over & Over
- Gone By Now
- All This Time
- Saké
- Emotionally Hungover
- Guess She’s Cool
- I Keep On Messing It Up
- One More Night
- JUMP!
- Looking At You
- emotional – demo
Before the band played their last song, “emotional,” the lead singer, Tommy, spoke some words about their journey and how far they have come in these past few years. During the speech, they mentioned their super exciting announcement that was posted on social media only days before- their debut album is ready and is set to be released on the January 30, 2026. Their album is titled ‘And I’d Do It Again.’ Here is a snippet from the band talking about the inspiration behind the album:
“The album is about the chances you take, the sacrifices you make, and the moments that shape who you are. It’s about holding on to what matters most and owning your story. Every high, every low, every mistake, it’s all in here. In these moments we think to ourselves: despite it all, if you could rewind and change any of it, would you? No.
And I’d Do It Again.“
The band also announced that their song “Saké,” which has been teased all over social media and live shows, is coming out today, the September 3.
