Announced only yesterday morning, Only The Poets are headlining a show at the o2 Academy in Brixton on February 2. Due to the rising prices of tickets, the band is taking a stand and making a commitment to keep live music accessible to everyone, dropping tickets at a price of only £1! In addition to this, the guys will also be supporting the LIVE Trust, the voice of the U.K.’s live music and entertainment sector, with an additional £1 per ticket donated directly to help protect and promote access to live music for all.
At the first gig Only The Poets put on seven years ago, they charged £1 for entry, and felt like it was time to do it again in a symbolic way. Only days ago, the four piece from Reading announced their debut album And I’d Do It Again, a 14-track alt-pop album “brimming with raw honesty, soaring hooks, and widescreen ambition,” set to release on January 30, 2026. The album seems to be reflective of their last seven years as a band, right from the start to their journey building up a devoted and loving fandom, one gig at a time.
Their decision to make this gig only £1 is deeply symbolic and meaningful, being only two days after their debut album becomes accessible for all and celebrating their years together. The band reminisced on their teenage years, talking about how live music for them was a place to connect, escape, and look after their mental health. Now, they want to pass that opportunity on to others, and give back to their fans.
“We charged £1 for our first ever gig — back then we only had a couple of songs, so anything more felt like too much for us,” singer Tommy Longhurst recalls. “We wouldn’t have been able to see half the gigs we went to if ticket prices were what they are now, so we wanted to make sure that this show was open to everyone.”
Guitarist Clem Cherry added: “Our fans know our shows are a safe space. This is about making sure anybody can come and have an amazing night in an iconic venue. It’s also a thank you to everyone who’s supported us to this point.”
Taking place so soon after the release of And I’d Do It Again, this concert is as much of a celebration as much as it is a statement: live music should be accessible for everyone!!
Presale: September 11 at 10 a.m. here.
General onsale: September 12 at 10 a.m. here.
All tickets are priced at £1 (plus fees: £1 venue restoration, £1 Ticketmaster fee, and a £1 Live Trust donation). Both the venue and Ticketmaster have actively supported the initiative, lowering their usual rates in solidarity with the band’s commitment to accessibility.
As part of the initiative, the band will also support the LIVE Trust — the voice of the U.K.’s live music and entertainment sector — with an additional £1 per ticket donated directly to help protect and promote access to live music for all.
LIVE Trust CEO Jon Collins says, “This is a wonderful, positive move by Only the Poets, giving back to the grassroots while giving back to their fans. Making this show accessible to all means everyone can enjoy the associated mental health, communal and emotional benefits. Funds raised for the LIVE Trust will go directly to support artists, venues, promoters, festivals and more across the UK grassroots. A young band like Only the Poets stepping up while artists like Biffy Clyro and My Chemical Romance back the Trust at their arena and stadia shows is further evidence of the growing levels of support for the LIVE Trust across all parts of the live music scene.”
