Foxing, Taking Back Sunday, and Coheed and Cambria ignite Red Rocks

Red Rocks was the place to be on Friday night with Foxing, Taking Back Sunday, and Coheed and Cambria, and of course a perfect blend of weather, energy, and nostalgia. It looked like rain might crash the party, but the skies held off and the temperature stayed just right, ideal for the picturesque Red Rocks experience.

Foxing came out swinging. They were super tight, their stage presence was electric, and they got things off to a stellar start. You could tell every member was locked in, and the crowd was with them from the first note.

Taking Back Sunday hit a different chord for me personally, not just a band, but a piece of home. Knowing they’re from Long Island like me always made their meteoric rise feel personal, and I was always along for the ride. A special part of this tour is that Fred Mascherino is back touring with them, filling in while John Nolan is taking a break due to spinal surgery. The energy between Adam Lazzara and the rest of the band was contagious. Even when things got loud or emotional – as they tend to with TBS shows – there was a real feeling of connection and shared history with the fans.

Coheed and Cambria closed it out with the kind of performance that takes your breath away. Once they hit the stage, the air sort of paused, a hush before the storm. Claudio’s unmistakable vocals, paired with guitarist Travis Stever’s soaring harmonies, filled the amphitheater and gave their intricate songs even more depth. Their precision, their grandiosity, the way they deliver those complex parts so cleanly, it’s always a marvel. They were absolutely at the top of their game last night and that is never something that should be missed.
