This single is an anthem for those who have experienced a toxic friendship they tried to hold onto for so long, but who know, at the end of the day, that it will never get better. Friendships, in my opinion, can become very tricky because not every friendship you have will be a positive one. “Villain (In Your Eyes)” expresses that in a raw and empowering way to allow listeners to understand that it’s okay to let go and end it.
