Boys Night Out is officially shaking off the dust. After more than a decade away, the Burlington, Ontario, post-hardcore heroes have returned with “100% Ghosts” – a song that hits hard, bleeds emotion, and still swings with the kind of catchy grit that made them cult favorites in the first place.
The track is everything longtime fans loved about BNO: raw vulnerability, vocals you can shout until your voice gives out, and riffs built to tear through dive bar walls. But there’s also a glimmer of light that wasn’t always there before. “100% Ghosts” is about moving forward when it feels impossible, confronting the heavy stuff and still pushing ahead. The title started as an inside joke; frontman Connor Lovat-Fraser was riffing on his wife’s ghost sightings on tour buses and venue green rooms. It stuck, because the song wrestles with the kind of invisible weight we all carry.
Produced, engineered, and co-written by longtime collaborator Scotty Komer, who also jumped back on bass, the single threads everything BNO built their reputation on: punk urgency, hardcore bite, pop leaning hooks, and a sly sense of drama. Connor’s voice moves from bruised melody to unhinged screams while the band piles on shouts and handclaps. It’s nostalgic and fresh all at once.
“Personally, this song makes me feel positive and excited for what the future holds,” Connor says. “It was deeply cathartic to write and sing during the recording process. I can’t wait to perform it live on stage.”
It’s the band’s first new material since reuniting for a celebrated Furnace Fest 2024 set in Birmingham, Alabama. That show reminded everyone how vital BNO still is and pulled in a wave of younger fans discovering the band for the first time. Clearly they are far from done, and I for one can’t wait to hear more. The current lineup of BNO includes Connor Lovat-Fraser (vocals), Scott Komer (bass/production), Matt McCausland (drums), Joe Baldasio (guitar), and Andrew Falcao (guitar).
