Midnight ‘Til Morning brings their first tour to Boston after building the band

Midnight ‘Til Morning brought their first tour to Boston on October 17 at Royale, and it was such a fun night. The band is made up of four members, including Mason Watts and Conor Smith from Australia, and Shane Appell and Zach Newbould from the United States. They were formed on the Netflix show “Building the Band,” and since then, they’ve released their debut EP, titled Afterglow.

They kicked things off with an original song called “Ghost of Us,” which is my favorite song that they have released so far. The band sounded incredible live and you could genuinely tell how much they were enjoying themselves. They also played a few covers from the Netflix show, such as “Higher Power” by Coldplay and “Drivers License” by Olivia Rodrigo. DuringDrivers License,” the crowd was so loud and fully engaged in the performance. I thought their vocals blended perfectly together as well. My personal highlight was when they sang “The Reason” by Hoobastank. Hearing it live, it was clear how much the group has grown since their TV debut.

About halfway through the set, they performed “Midnight” by the late Liam Payne, who was one of the judges on “Building the Band.” It was so special and felt like a very nice tribute to him. The band also played some unreleased songs, and I cannot wait for them to officially drop.

The set closed with “Bye,” another original from their debut EP. The crowd sang along to every single word, which definitely had to have been a cool feeling for the band. Overall, for their first ever tour, Midnight ‘Til Morning did a really great job, and I can’t wait to see where they go from here.

Just before Midnight ‘Til Morning came on, Emily James opened the show. One specific moment that really stood out to me was her beautiful cover of “Someone Like You” by Adele. Her voice is so pretty, and she really captured the emotion of the song and the audience’s attention.
