Kitty Craft plays a sold-out show in Cambridge, Massachusetts

On Wednesday night, Kitty Craft played a sold-out show in Cambridge, Massachusetts, at Sonia.

When I got to Cambridge on Wednesday night, the line outside Sonia was already wrapped around the corner. Everyone was there to see Kitty Craft on her first tour along the East Coast. As I waited inside the venue, someone near me went over to check out the merchandise. They then returned ecstatic that they had found a Kitty Craft cassette. When the show began, Pamela Valfer, who everyone knows as Kitty Craft, was accompanied by a pair of fellow musicians, one who provided backup vocals and the other who played guitar. The scene felt nostalgic. The bright colors behind the band matched each song’s vibe. It felt really cozy in there. All evening, everyone lost themselves within the soft, dreamy music of Kitty Craft.

The night opened with a set from After, a band with an early-2000s-inspired sound that I absolutely love. I actually first found out about them over the summer, on TikTok, when they appeared on my For You page. They played some of my favorite songs from their discography, including “300 Dreams” and “Outbound.” Their sound definitely has that nostalgic feel, while also sounding current at the same time. It is a bit reminiscent of Michelle Branch and Hilary Duff.
