At the beginning of this year, I challenged myself to stand out from your average concert photographer. Film has been on the uprising amongst the younger generation. However, not everyone is properly educated on how to meter Film. So, I took it upon myself to start shooting concerts as they did back in the day: on 35mm film, and to post as many pictures as possible to hopefully reach my target audience – those who want to learn. Film has such a unique look, feel, and story to tell. Every show I have captured on film seems timeless, effortless, and unforgettable. There is a magic that is inexplicable when the artist you are photographing is just as passionate as you are about their art. I am beyond grateful for the opportunities I have been given this year by The Concert Chronicles and by any artists whose team has approved photo passes.
Film has also taught me many things, such as patience, taking in my surroundings, and the overall excitement of waiting to see my photos. We have become so accustomed to the fast-paced digital world that sometimes we forget to slow down, to just breathe. Creating art on film has brought me peace and understanding of what it truly means to be a creative.
