Edmonton punk rock outfit Calling All Captains return with their new EP The Things That I’ve Lost, arriving January 9, 2026, via New Damage Records. The seven-track release finds the band refining their sound while leaning into more personal subject matter, more direct, grounded, and intentionally stripped back.
The EP’s latest single, “Blood For Blood,” offers a clear snapshot of where the band is headed. Co-written with Tom Denney of A Day to Remember, the track blends post-hardcore intensity with melodic punk structure, pairing sharp riffs with a focused, confrontational vocal delivery.
According to the band, “Blood For Blood” explores an imagined confrontation with one’s darker instincts, the internal tension between who you are and who you don’t want to become. Rather than leaning into theatrics, the song keeps its message straightforward, letting the weight of the lyrics carry the emotion.
The EP was recorded with longtime collaborator Quinn Cyrankiewicz (Royal Tusk) at The Audio Department in Edmonton, mixed by Tim Creviston, and mastered by Stuart McKillop at Rain City Recorders. The production is clean but punchy, giving each track space while keeping the energy intact.

Fronted by Luc Gauthier, with Connor Dawkins and Brad Bremner on guitars and vocals, and Tim Wilson on drums, Calling All Captains continue to balance urgency with clarity. Songs like “A New Type of Grey” and “Dark Clouds” address burnout and uncertainty, while tracks such as “Say That You Hate Me” and “Salt Lines” focus on fractured relationships and emotional distance.
“This is the most personal release we’ve ever put out,” says Gauthier. “These songs came from reflecting on what we’ve been through, both individually and as a band. It’s honest, and that was the priority.”
The Things That I’ve Lost doesn’t aim to reinvent the band; it sharpens what they already do well. With tighter songwriting and a more direct emotional approach, Calling All Captains continue to establish themselves as a consistent and evolving presence in modern punk rock.
