TAILGUNNER is igniting these bitter winter months by bringing us a hot new single inspired by the classic ’80s film Blade Runner. “Tears in Rain” is the second of three singles that are currently out, preceding the release of TAILGUNNER’s upcoming album Midnight Blitz.

It’s not often that we see new bands emerging with a sound that’s straight out of the ’70s and ’80s. TAILGUNNER has truly made their mark with that classic heavy metal sound, sure to reel in fans from many eras. The group of five hails from the U.K.: Craig Cairns on vocals, Rhea Thompson and Zach Salvini on lead guitar, Bones on bass, and Eddie Mariotti on drums. The band officially formed in 2022, and with a sound that’s already this rich in depth and quality, the bar is set unnervingly high. I’d hate to be their competition.

“Tears in Rain” is particularly unique, with the track paying homage to the iconic monologue featured in the movie Blade Runner.

The three singles, “Midnight Blitz,” “Tears in Rain,” and “Eulogy,” all have separate and distinct sounds. Despite the excellent individuality, the album is already incredibly cohesive, and it’s definitely going to be hard to wait for the full release on February 6, 2026. The tracks tease deliciously heavy riffs, guitar solos, and vocals, and the official music video for “Midnight Blitz” doubles down on that retro vibe they’ve meticulously concocted.
