The Roots & Questlove return to Brooklyn Bowl for Valentine’s Day

If your idea of Valentine’s Day involves something louder, looser, and far more alive than a prix fixe dinner, The Roots have you covered. On Saturday, February 14, at 8 p.m., the group returns to Brooklyn Bowl in New York for a special one-night performance titled The Roots Present: Play Another Slow Jam.

The Roots Special Valentines Day Performance 2026

The night is built as a full experience rather than a standard concert. Questlove will be spinning DJ sets before and after the show, shaping the evening into something that leans into groove, romance, and deep musical memory rather than surface-level Valentine’s sentiment.

The Roots have always thrived in rooms like Brooklyn Bowl, where the line between band and audience stays thin. Their live performances move freely through hip hop, soul, jazz, and R&B, stretching songs and responding to the room instead of locking into rigid setlists.

Questlove’s history with the venue runs deep. For seven consecutive years, he hosted his weekly Bowl Train residency at Brooklyn Bowl, bringing in guests like Talib Kweli, Nancy Whang of LCD Soundsystem, and Binky Griptite of Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. That history gives nights like this a powerful nostalgic feel rather than a one-off booking.

Formed in Philadelphia in 1987 by Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter and Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, The Roots have built a career defined by musicianship, curiosity, and longevity. Alongside their touring legacy and extensive catalog, they currently serve as the house band for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

This Valentine’s Day show is about sentiment and connection. A band that listens as much as it plays, a room moving together, and a night shaped by rhythm rather than routine.

Event details and tickets are available now via Brooklyn Bowl.
