Wormy shares final Shark River single “I Hate You” feat. Medium Build

Wormy

Wormy, the project of songwriter and touring drummer Noah Rauchwerk, has released “I Hate You,” the final single from his forthcoming album Shark River, out now via Rose Garden. The song premiered alongside a new video via FLOOD Magazine and features an appearance from Nick Carpenter of Medium Build.

I Hate You” is brisk and deceptively catchy, pairing sharp melodies with a knot of unresolved emotion. The track was produced by Renny Conti, who also contributes electric guitar, and it captures the push and pull of admiration, jealousy, and distance that can quietly fracture adult friendships.

“I wrote it in a patch when Nick and I had grown apart,” Rauchwerk explains. “I missed him a lot and also wanted to be in his shoes.” The accompanying video, which nods directly to Stephen King’s Misery, leans into that tension with a sense of humor and discomfort that feels unpolished in the best way. According to Rauchwerk, everything on screen actually happened.

Rauchwerk spends much of his time on the road as a drummer for artists including Samia, Willow Avalon, and Renny Conti. That constant motion bleeds into his songwriting, which circles loneliness, fractured relationships, and the false comfort of escape. Musically, Shark River balances sepia-toned indie production with an emo-leaning vulnerability that recalls artists like Bright Eyes and The Mountain Goats.

Wormy will celebrate the release of Shark River with a record release show at Union Pool in Brooklyn on January 31.
