After eight years, the transatlantic pop-rock quartet AS IT IS has created a new body of work due to be released later this year on July 17, 2026, via FLG. Patty Walters, Ben Langford-Biss, Ali Testo, and Patrick Foley, the band’s original line up from 2014, reunited last year with a rerecording of their debut album Never Happy Ever After X. Now they’re back with a full new album, reflecting on the years of growth and experiences each member has lived through, how it culminated in the reunion, and how it redefines what AS IT IS is.
The reunion came as a reconciliation among the members, who came together as friends first and foremost, before any thoughts of the band. At its core, this was almost a full-circle moment, a return to remembering why they started the band in the first place: being there for each other and recalling how they were kids writing songs together. In the face of this, the new album could only be self-titled—a declaration of the past, the present, and the future of AS IT IS.
The newest single, “Ruin My Life,” featuring Murray Macleod of Xcerts, has also been released in conjunction with this album announcement. Frontman Patty Walters shares: “We’re so excited to share with the world ‘Ruin My Life,’ a reckless love song about the band and all we’ve been through together. It’s a celebration of getting back together and a nod to all the mistakes we made along the way. We’re not the only band to have made amazing memories and catastrophic choices in equal measure, but we couldn’t tell the story of our band by omitting either. Without our unbreakable friendship, we wouldn’t have survived, and this song is about the love that got us to the other side of the darkness. We wrote this song with Murray from The Xcerts, so it only felt right to have him with us in the studio and his voice on the recording. We wouldn’t have this song, truly one of our all-time favorites, without him.”
