In Balance Drop New Track “Two Steps Behind”

From Bakersfield, California, pop-punk/melodic hardcore band In Balance have announced the release of their explosive new single, “Two Steps Behind.” The track was released on January 16, 2026, and is a burst of clarity and confrontation, filled with high speed, soaring melodies, and emotional, raw vocals. Built on rapid-fire instrumentation and anthemic hooks, “Two Steps Behind” embraces urgency without restraint, marking a defining moment for both In Balance and the difficult decisions between self-choice and release.

Produced and mixed by Kyle Black (Paramore, State Champs, Pierce The Veil) and mastered by Kris Crummett (SUM 41, Dance Gavin Dance), the single represents a faster, sharper, and more dynamic direction for the band. Vocalist Marcel describes the song as unapologetic and energetic, born from experimentation and “happy accidents,” ultimately becoming his favorite In Balance track to date.

Following their debut EP Elements (2023) and singles “Veritigo” (2024) and “Forget Me” (2025), In Balance continues to build momentum with emotionally honest songwriting and high-energy live performances. Despite drawing influence from acts like The Story So Far, Neck Deep, and Knuckle Puck, the band still carves out their own identity. “Two Steps Behind” stands as proof that In Balance is entering a new era, pushing forward with renewed clarity, intensity, and conviction.
