Midnight Til Morning lights up La Maroquinerie and ushers in a new generation of boy bands.
Saturday night, La Maroquinerie was sold out for Midnight Til Morning’s Paris show. Performing in front of a packed crowd, the four-piece delivered a set that was both polished and heartfelt, blending tight harmonies, an unexpected backflip, and an infectious sense of joy.
Made up of Zach, Connor, Shane, and Mason, the group was formed on the Netflix series “Built the Band,” a competition where contestants were given the rare opportunity to shape their own ideal lineup. The first stage of the selection process focused solely on vocals, before the members were gradually brought together, rehearsed as a unit, and introduced to both live audiences and the pressures of competition.
The show was overseen by an emblematic panel of judges, creating a clear link between past and present generations of pop: Liam Payne (One Direction), A.J. McLean (Backstreet Boys), Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls), and Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child) — all artists who helped define the boyband and girlband phenomenon of the late ’90s and 2000s.
The series also stands as Liam Payne’s final public appearance before his sudden passing last year, giving the project an added emotional weight.
On stage, Midnight Til Morning performed tracks from their debut EP Afterglow — including “Heart on Fire,” “Bye,” and “Welcome to LA” — alongside songs that marked key moments in their journey on the show. Among them was Coldplay’s “Higher Power,” the very first song they ever sang together during auditions. The symbolic performance, marking the moment their four voices first blended, became one of the night’s emotional highlights.
Finally, every evening he reveals a “surprise song.” In Paris, it will be “Titanium” by David Guetta and Sia! A little nod to the world-famous French DJ!
Beyond the music itself, what stood out most was the group’s genuine connection with the audience. Their approach felt refreshingly unfiltered and warm: an 18-year-old fan was invited on stage for a photo; another was encouraged to sing a few lines and impressed the room with her voice; at one point, Connor even stepped into the crowd to dance with fans, carrying himself with an old-school, gentlemanly ease.
Simple gestures, perhaps, but ones that reveal an authentic and thoughtful relationship with their community.
The boyband, reimagined for 2026
With strong harmonies, distinct personalities, and undeniable stage presence, Midnight Til Morning aren’t merely recycling nostalgia. Instead, they modernize and humanize the boyband formula, proving the format still has a place in today’s pop landscape.

At La Maroquinerie, the verdict was clear: a captivated crowd, a room full of smiles, and a band that already feels like more than a TV-born act — but a genuine live force to watch.

They’ll be back in Paris this May for a larger show at Le Trianon, confirming that their rise is only just beginning.
