Hold on tight because The Last Ten Seconds of Life (TLTSOL) has released a new single that’ll pair with their eighth full-length set to release this April. We have been blessed to be able to catch the titular track of this new album, and it goes HARD. My introduction to this band was Fall 2023, when I was working a show with absolutely no clue who was playing. Let me tell you that I was absolutely blown away, and my first listen to this new track, “The Dead Ones,” was no different.
The intensity that this band brings through the vocals, the sound, the grit – it reverberates through you. If you don’t know, I wasn’t always into heavy metal as much as I am now. It’s grown on me. The community that this music scene welcomes and the energy that surges at the shows are undeniable. It’s enough to make you feel like no matter what, someone in this room is your next best friend. Music is a powerful tool.
I especially love the growling sounds in the beginning and the chanting feel of the words, “first they came for my brain, then they came for my blood, the dead ones,” and it smoothly transitions into its full sound with a background vibration note.
This album is meant to be both intense and personal, focusing on what guitarist Wyatt McLaughlin refers to as “super thick sonic output” and “rolling tank”-like feel. Honestly, it vibes. This album will also feature some stellar collaborations from David Simonich of Signs of the Swarm, Nate Johonson (former Fit for an Autopsy), Alan Grnja of Distant, and original TLTSOL vocalist Storm Strope. The amount of features is insane, and it’s definitely going to be a killer album. Loads of new albums are coming this April; it’s going to be an insane month of new music that I’ll have to remember to listen to.
This new album will be on my radar, especially with it being so true to the band. I really cannot applaud bands enough that continue to write raw and real to the audience. McLaughlin also comments that this album is meant to touch on those unresolved moments between losing a loved one, and it’s an illuminated way to deliver a sonic seance when realizing to be a vessel for the dead in both the dark and light are due. This is such an intriguing and powerful reality to want to put oneself into creating through music. Just the one song is not enough to hear their inspiration, so I look forward to having the complete album for a listen and feeling their message to my core.
You can preorder this album now. “The Dead Ones” are available to stream on all platforms, and earlier this month, they hit the road to tour with Left to Suffer. Catch them on tour for that, but if you missed them near you already, they did just announce the album release tour, so check out the information on those tickets. Go stream and scream, “The Dead Ones” now!
