Nashville-based indie band WILLIS recently dropped their EP, titled “Locals 5” – the newest chapter in their “Locals Only” series. This series pays homage to the tight-knit friendship shared by the five bandmates, who grew up together in Florence, Alabama, and to the community they are building with fans as the band continues to rapidly grow.
“Twist of Fate” was released as a single in late August 2025. The song explores the dreamlike experience of getting lost in the feeling early in a new relationship, where everything seems so meant to be, a feeling that is both familiar and elusive. The world continues to show its love for WILLIS, as “Twist of Fate” has reached over 400,000 streams on Spotify since its release and secured a spot on NPR Music’s Best of the Week playlist. Other tracks from LO5, such as “Break Your Heart Again” and “Nevermind,” are following close behind, already creeping into the band’s top 10 on Spotify.
This past Monday, they made their national TV debut performing “Twist of Fate” on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” Their performance was everything I expected from them: calm, cool, and filled with the palpable chemistry that resonates both onstage and in their music. The five-piece band, made up of childhood friends, performs as one. WILLIS finished up the last leg of their tour in December 2025, and if you missed out on seeing them then, they’re definitely a band to keep up with. We’re off to a great start with the release of their newest album, and I look forward to seeing what more WILLIS gets into this next year.
