The amazing new single “The Boy And The Swan” by Bird has now been released. This is the next single from her much-anticipated EP, “Strange As Folk,” which is also out now and available on all streaming platforms!!
Bird has said the new single was not written for herself but instead was heavily inspired by the amazing Belgian artist Aqua Riyaz, who was seeking writers with whom he could collaborate. Riyaz expressed his experiences growing up, which heavily influenced the foundation of the track.
Although Bird originally intended to dedicate the song to Riyaz, over time she found that the lyrics had a universal message for all. Bird says no matter how the song is perceived, there is a piece of it that everyone can relate to, and she adds it’s an unfortunately relevant thing to sing about.
The video for this track was created in Denmark with a very gifted friend, Jorgen Callesen, also known as “Miss Fish,” who is a prominent performance artist operating a brilliant space called Warehouse 9 in Copenhagen. It meant a lot to Bird to have Jorgen involved, as he is a very vocal LGBTQIA+ activist. He has guided and encouraged a great number of individuals to work in a safe, non-judgmental space. Here’s to all the Swans out there!
