Death Cab For Cutie announce new tour

Death Cab for Cutie have announced their signing to ANTI- Records, marking a new chapter for the influential indie band as they prepare to release future music through the label. Approaching three decades as a band, the eight-time GRAMMY-nominated group now joins an acclaimed ANTI- roster that spans generations, alongside artists such as Tom Waits, Mavis Staples, Neko Case, Fleet Foxes, Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, Slow Pulp, and more.

The move signals a return to independent territory for Death Cab, whose story began in 1997 and included the release of their first four albums on Barsuk Records. That era was followed by a run with Atlantic Records, where the band released six albums, two of which went on to achieve Platinum status.

Details on new music will be shared soon.

“We’re incredibly excited to become part of the ANTI- family,” says Benjamin Gibbard. “So many artists on the label are longtime favorites, close friends, or both. We’re looking forward to starting this next phase with the ANTI- team and finally sharing what we’ve been working on.”

In addition to the announcement, Death Cab for Cutie has revealed plans for a summer headlining tour, launching July 10 in Minneapolis and including two nights at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre. Select dates will feature support from Japanese Breakfast, Nation of Language, and Jay Som. Presale tickets will be available beginning Wednesday, January 28, at 10 a.m. local time, with general on-sale starting Friday, January 30, at 10 a.m. local time. Fans can find full routing information below and sign up for early ticket access. Ahead of the tour, the band will also co-headline Denver’s Outside Days Festival on May 29.

The upcoming shows follow a landmark, sold-out world tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of Transatlanticism, which included a headlining performance at London’s All Points East, as well as the release of the band’s widely praised tenth studio album, Asphalt Meadows.

“One of the best parts of being in Death Cab is sharing the stage with artists who inspire us,” Gibbard adds. “Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som, and Nation of Language have all made records we love, and we’re thrilled to have them out with us this summer.”
