K-pop group i-dle releases new single MONO ft. skaiwater

i-dle, the globally popular K-pop girl group, is entering a new era beginning with the single Mono.”

Made up of members Soyeon, Minnie, Yuqi, Miyeon, and Shuhua, the group has found massive success over the years by pushing the boundaries of the girl group formula, most notably by playing a leading role in their own songwriting and creative direction in an industry where it is rare for idols to produce their own music.

While i-dle are usually known for big, anthemic hits such as “Queencard” and “Tomboy,” “Mono” takes their sound in a more minimalist direction. The girls’ confident vocals, contrasted and complemented by a verse from British rapper skaiwater, resound over a laid-back beat that has an air of sonic maturity. With a music video of striking black-and-white visuals and lyrics in English and Korean, the song is a much-needed call for unity and acceptance, and honest self-expression.

“Mono” comes ahead of the group’s “[SYNCOPATION] World Tour,” with dates currently announced for Asia and Australia, with more to come later this year.
