Motionless In White release new single, “Afraid Of The Dark”

Motionless In White (MIW) closed out January by dropping their first new song of the year, “Afraid Of The Dark.”

As the band prepares to celebrate their 20-year anniversary, their past, present, and future collide in the song’s blend of industrial grit and electronic embellishment.

Lyrically, the song pays tribute to MIW’s entire lifespan, packed with references to different eras and albums, reaching as far back as the 2009 EP “When Love Met Destruction.” These lyrics work in tandem with the track’s musicality, which features verses that conjure the harshness of their earlier sound and melodic choruses more characteristic of their newer music. All of this wraps around a brutal breakdown just as fans have known and loved since the band’s beginning.

“I want the story of MIW to inspire anyone listening to not fear the unknown, but to run headfirst into it with everything they’ve got. This song is about taking control of your own future without any doubt or apprehension,” singer Chris Motionless says about the track.

In this empowering declaration of what it means to find yourself and step out into the life that is unequivocally yours, Motionless in White showcases their evolution as a band — and as people — while reaffirming their connection to and love for the roots they planted two decades ago.

“Afraid Of The Dark” was accompanied by an official music video, which can be viewed here

It is quite possible that the track is the beginning of a new era for Motionless In White — a precursor to more songs to come. In the meantime, the band is set to spend the spring touring with Bring Me The Horizon, performing on stages at Madison Square Garden, Welcome to Rockville, and Sonic Temple.
