Andrew McMahon announced today that he will be revisiting one of the most meaningful live concepts of his career. In July, McMahon made history at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO, where he became the first artist to serve as opener, direct support, and headliner in a single evening. The event was a dream come true— not just for for McMahon and his bandmates, but also for the fans who traveled from all over the world to experience a night of magic in one of the Earth’s most magical venues. And now, McMahon is set to bring this special event to three cities in August.
The unique production, titled “Three Pianos: An Evening with Something Corporate, Jack’s Mannequin, and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness,” will stop in Philadelphia on August 8, Chicago on August 14, and Long Beach, California on August 22. Each night brings together all three eras of McMahon’s catalog — Something Corporate, Jack’s Mannequin, and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness — performed on three different pianos that represent distinct chapters of his life and songwriting journey.
Members of McMahon’s fan club, Camp Wilderness, had first dibs at tickets with the public announcement today, and additional presales will run through February 19. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, February 20, at 10 a.m. local time. In keeping with McMahon’s long-standing commitment to giving back, $1 from every ticket sold will benefit the Dear Jack Foundation, his nonprofit supporting adolescents and young adults facing cancer. In an effort to keep tickets in the hands of fans, McMahon has enabled Face Value Ticket Exchange, ensuring that tickets can only be sold at their original price (where state law allows).
In addition to the large-scale Three Pianos shows, McMahon will also perform two intimate “An Evening With Andrew McMahon” dates — August 6 in Philadelphia and August 12 in Chicago. Tickets for these stripped-down performances were first available to members of Camp Wilderness, with any remaining tickets released to the public on February 20.
Reflecting on “Three Piano’s” debut in July, McMahon shared: “Last summer’s Three Pianos show was life changing. Nothing could have prepared me for the magic I felt that night. Sharing the stage with the members of all three of my bands and getting to weave a lifetime’s worth of songs and memories into a single show is something I’d wanted to do for years but was too scared to try. Having done it once, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was a moment deserving of a few more stages and a few more nights with my friends and collaborators and the fans that gave our music a home.”
Before August arrives, McMahon will reunite with his extended musical family for the second annual Holiday From Real Cruise, produced by Sixthman. Sailing February 28 through March 4 from Miami to the Dominican Republic, the floating festival will feature performances from Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, Jack’s Mannequin, Something Corporate, The Maine, The Starting Line, The Rocket Summer, Petey USA, Michigander, Trousdale, flor, and more.
For longtime fans, Three Pianos is a full-circle celebration of the songs that have soundtracked their lives for more than two decades.
