Ohio metalcore mainstays Miss May I have released their first new music of 2026 with the single and video for “Die on the Vine,” and it lands exactly where longtime fans would hope. Galloping guitars, sharp rhythmic shifts, and breakdowns that hit without feeling forced, all wrapped around melodies that stick.
Rather than chasing a trend, “Die on the Vine” leans into reflection. The band describes the track as a midlife reckoning, a confrontation with how childhood experiences and unresolved trauma shape who we become. It is not framed as self-pity, but as a choice. Either let the damage define you or adapt, sharpen your edges, and grow through it. That tension sits at the core of the song, and it gives the aggression purpose.
Musically, Miss May I stay in their lane in the best way possible. The guitars move with urgency, the breakdowns feel earned instead of inserted, and the chorus provides just enough lift without softening the blow. It is the kind of track that reminds you why they have remained a staple in metalcore conversations for over a decade.
The release follows last summer’s “Pray For Silence,” continuing a stretch where the band feels focused and deliberate rather than nostalgic. With appearances already locked in for Inkcarceration Festival in Ohio and Rock Fest in Wisconsin this July, it is clear that 2026 is not a quiet year for Miss May I.
If “Die on the Vine” is the tone setter for what is coming next, expect music that carries weight both emotionally and sonically.
