Hello Sunshine, in partnership with Ally Financial and the IF/THEN® Initiative from Lyda Hill Philanthropies, is continuing its ambitious documentary series The Rise with a new feature-length installment focused on the evolution of women’s skateboarding. “The Gold Medal Girls of X Games” premieres February 16, 2026, exclusively on Peacock.
The film places viewers inside the fast-moving world of Southern California skate culture, following four teenage standouts as they prepare for X Games Ventura 2024. What unfolds is not just a competition story, but a portrait of a generational shift inside a sport that has historically centered male voices and visibility.

For three decades, X Games has existed at the crossroads of youth sport, music, fashion, gaming, and creator culture. “The Gold Medal Girls of X Games” explores how that intersection is changing as young women take control of the narrative. The documentary follows rising skateboarders as they chase podium finishes while also reshaping what representation looks like in skateboarding.
The film features appearances from skate icon Tony Hawk alongside standout athletes including Arisa Trew, Shiloh Catori, Reese Nelson, Jada Ward, Amelia Brodka, Lyn-Z Hawkins Pastrana, Selema Masekela, and Trevor Ward.

The documentary is directed and executive produced by Patty Ivins Specht, known for “Billie Jean King’s Groundbreakers” and “Light In the Water.” Additional executive producers include Josh Rakic, Jeff Moorad, Vince Castellanos, and Pete Dellaria.
Across The Rise series, executive producers include Reese Witherspoon, Sara Rea, Zoe Fairbourn, Sue Kinkead, Lyda Hill, Ty O’Neil, and Nicole Small, with former professional soccer player Ashlyn Harris serving as consulting producer.
“The Gold Medal Girls of X Games” arrive at a time when women’s sports are experiencing measurable growth across broadcast, streaming, and live attendance. Rather than framing progress as a side story, the film positions these athletes at the center of skateboarding’s present and future.
For viewers, the February 16 premiere on Peacock offers more than competition highlights. It offers access to the ambition, pressure, and cultural change happening behind the podium.
