Horror movie-based metal band Ice Nine Kills are back, and this time, they’re sharpening the blade! Their latest single, “Twisting the Knife,” is a theatrical assault that blends the band’s signature metal sound with another new twist. This track features actress/singer McKenna Grace (“Ghostbuster Afterlife,” “Handmaids Tale,” “Young Sheldon”), adding a perfect melodic layer to contrast the band’s usual flavored metalcore.
“Twisting the Knife” was first introduced during the band’s headlining show at London’s OVO Arena Wembley, where the band portrayed the onstage “death” of the Scream actress Rose McGowan – in the movie, it involved a garage door – followed by a video call from Ghostface on stage. That moment marked a theatrical high point in a career-defining run, just after two-and-a-half years supporting Metallica with a handful of other great bands on their global stadium tour and multiple sold-out headline stops worldwide.
The music video continues Ice Nine Kills’ signature horror movie homage, blending performance with a post-video narrative short that continues the ever-expanding lore connected with frontman Spencer Charnas, with Roger L. Jackson returning to his iconic role as Ghostface. The story picks up directly from 2025’s “The Laugh Track,” which saw Matthew Lillard playing himself, hinting at this very new collaboration.
Beyond its theatrical performance, “Twisting the Knife” feels tailored to the big screen. The song has been officially confirmed to appear in the new installment of the Scream franchise, set to hit theaters on February 7, 2026. With the new video, Ice Nine Kills also advertised a line of limited-edition merch for this release as a part of their “Nightmare on the Ninth” merch packages. This is the second time the band has been featured in a major horror franchise. In 2024, Ice Nine Kills (INK) collaborated with Damien Leone for “Terrifier 3,” with the song “A Work of Art”. So, to add Scream to their trophy case of great success feels more like a natural placement than a surprise. This band has set the bar for working hard to achieve out-of-this-world goals.
The collaboration with McKenna Grace further broadens the band’s crossover appeal without sacrificing their core identity. Her performance puts a chilling vulnerability into the track, amplifying its emotional weight before the band does what they do best. As 2026 continues, Scream prepares to terrify audiences once again. “Twisting the Knife” stands ready as its counterpart, sharp, theatrical, and unapologetically brutal.
