BILLY IDOL SHOULD BE DEAD set for U.S. theatrical release February 26

Coming to the U.S on February 26 is “Billy Idol Should Be Dead,” a documentary film directed by three-time GRAMMY winner Jonas Åkerlund and produced by Live Nation Studios. Its initial debut will start at the TCL Theater in Los Angeles on February 23 and at the Regal Union Square in New York on February 25 before making its way to the wide theatrical release. The documentary uses never-before-seen archives and personal interviews to trace the life and career of punk pioneer turned rock ‘n’ roll icon Billy Idol. The film digs deeper into his rise from a prototypical punk rocker to his meteoric rise as a global superstar in the MTV Era, while also exploring the real challenges Idol had to overcome to remain a beloved rock and roll figure.

The film features an original song, “Dying To Live,” created in collaboration with Academy Award-nominated songwriter J. Ralph and longtime collaborators Steve Stevens, Tommy English, and Joe Janiak. The documentary follows the release of Idol’s first full-length album in over a decade, Dream Into It, which is out now on Dark Horse Records. The album reached No. 7 on the U.S. Top Albums Chart and No. 4 on the U.S. Current Rock Album ChartNo. 9 on the U.K. Official Album Sales Chart, and No. 2 on the German Top 100 Album Chart. Featuring contributions from Steve Stevens, Avril Lavigne, Joan Jett, and Alison Mosshart of The Kills, and produced by Tommy Englis, the album has earned widespread critical acclaim.
