Prizefighter was co-produced and co-written by Aaron Dessner and features artists like Hozier, Gracie Abrams, Chris Stapleton, and Gigi Perez. This album finds Mumford & Sons at their most open and instinctive, finding the sense of connection and community that has inspired the band from the start. The album has already gained widespread attention, and the band was recently featured on NPR’s Morning Edition, The Zane Lowe Show, Bert Kreischer’s The Bertcast, And The Writer Is… and Brittany Broski’s Royal Court, while NPR Music praises the album saying, “it’s pretty wonderful…this music is very evolved and intricate and exquisitely produced and performed. They are incredible musicians.”
The official music video for the track “The Banjo Song” is out now, directed and produced by the Bristol-based events collective, Streets of Soul, who cast the dancers solely from clubbers they met at their Bristol Northern Soul Club nights. Watch/share HERE.
Less than a year after the release of the band’s long-anticipated No. 1 album from March 2025, RUSHMERE, Mumford & Sons took full advantage of a prolific songwriting period and wrote another full-length album in quick succession. Mumford & Sons is a band whose unique sound has inspired countless artists across the globe, and Prizefighter is an outstanding example of how and why they lead the way they do. The sessions for the album were just as much about recording as they were about rediscovery. Days spent writing in Hudson cafés and nights spent around Long Pond’s kitchen table gave life to the songs that feel unpolished in the best way. The album is lively with first takes and filled with the joy of simply making music together again. Rejuvenated and reenergized, Prizefighter reflects on that full-strength energy through these 14 songs that exude light, dark, and a spectrum of feeling.
