Chicago alternative rock band The Academy Is… has released their new single “Miracle,” the latest preview of their upcoming album Almost There, arriving March 27, 2026, via I Surrender Records. The track marks the second single from the band’s first full-length album in more than 18 years.
“Miracle” balances driving guitars with reflective melodies, building a dynamic mix of emotional urgency and shimmering atmosphere. The song moves between moments of intensity and openness as frontman William Beckett delivers one of his most direct vocal performances in years.
“I need to love again. Turn me on my head. I need to feel the warmth. Tell me I’m not dead,” Beckett sings as the band builds toward soaring choruses and layered instrumentation.
Guitarist Mike Carden explained that the band wanted the track to capture the excitement of discovering a new favorite song. “Miracle reminds us of LimeWire era vibes. Finally finding that song that takes you by surprise. A very distinct feeling. We wanted it to hit and pull you straight in.”
The single follows the release of the album’s first track, “2005,” which introduced fans to the band’s next creative chapter. Rolling Stone described the song as a shimmering mix of synths, guitar riffs, and insistent rhythms that echo the band’s early work while reflecting two decades of experience.
The upcoming album Almost There arrives as a companion in spirit to the band’s breakthrough debut Almost Here. The record explores distance, reflection, and the perspective that comes from revisiting the ambitions of youth with the clarity of adulthood.
“Almost Here was the beginning. Almost There is the reflection,” Beckett said. “It’s about checking in with who you thought you’d be twenty years later, seeing what changed, what stuck, and what still feels like home.”
The album features 11 new songs that revisit the emotional intensity that defined the band’s early catalog while expanding into more mature songwriting. Guitarist Mike Carden, bassist Adam Siska, and drummer Andy Mrotek lean into arrangements that shift from stripped-back melodies into full-band climaxes built around soaring choruses and tightly wound tension.
The release also arrives as The Academy Is… continues celebrating the twentieth anniversary of their debut album Almost Here. Their anniversary tour has drawn strong demand from longtime fans while introducing the band to a new generation of listeners.
The next leg of the “Almost Here 20th Anniversary Tour” begins April 10 in Buffalo, New York, before traveling across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The band will also appear at Warped Tour 2026 in Washington, D.C., and Long Beach later this summer.
