Did YOU hear Charlotte’s MacInnes’ NEW SINGLE “STRUCK”!?

Friday, March 13, wasn’t unlucky for all of us.

If you got to hear Charlotte MacInnes’ newly written and released “Struck,” then your musical taste buds probably experienced the same as me when I was delightfully surprised with what emerged from my speakers. She is credited with the lyrics, as well as the angelic and siren-like vocal magnetism in the song. Official lyric video below:

Charlotte sings her words: ”I’m a damn good sailor in a gale force, I’m the raw steel before I’m forged, I wanna be someone worth losing myself for, Shadow hands grab mine in the dark”…

I believe that Charlotte is utilizing a creative play on words in the first line. Her use of the word gale – showing through the second most used definition of the word, gale. “A burst of sound, especially of laughter” (defined by Oxford’s Language) might show us here that Charlotte fights her life’s storms with her music – and laughter. A gale is typically more commonly recognized as a strong wind, according to Oxford’s language.

Easter eggs from good songwriting are something – as a listener – I will always have a deeply rooted appreciation for, and I’m guessing Charlotte does this frequently. It takes a certain kind of mind to write this way. You can tell she pours her Heart and soul into her songs.

I have a strong affinity for the line she wrote and sang so powerfully in the chorus, staking claim that “death will not be my savior.” I won’t write a comprehensive analysis of the lyrics – I implore whoever is reading this to dive into the song yourself. Use your best headphones, best stereo, whatever you have available, and let the peace and empowering energy wash your mind into a better place.
