U.K. deathcore outfit Bound In Fear have released their third full-length album, A Mind Too Sick To Heal, out now via Unique Leader Records, and it lands firmly in the second category.

This is not a record built for easy listening. It is dense, suffocating, and intentionally uncomfortable. From the opening moments, the band leans into a slower, crushing weight that feels less about speed and more about pressure. Riffs drag. Atmosphere lingers. Nothing rushes to resolve.

The new single “Lurking” captures that approach clearly. It does not try to break through or open up. It closes in. Every section feels deliberate, built to reinforce a sense of tension that never fully releases.

That restraint is what makes the album stand out. In a genre that often leans toward excess, Bound In Fear pulls things back just enough to make each moment feel heavier. It is controlled, not chaotic.

The band spent the last three years out of sight, not chasing attention, not feeding a release cycle, just writing. That distance shows. This does not feel rushed or reactive. It feels focused.

Lyrically and sonically, the record continues the band’s ongoing exploration of internal struggle. Themes of anger, depression, and personal weight are not presented as abstract ideas. They are direct, uncomfortable, and difficult to sit with at times. That is the point.

Tracks like “Sentenced,” “Chasm,” and the title track build on that foundation, layering bleak atmosphere with low-end heaviness that never lets up for long. There are no real moments of relief, only brief pauses before the next drop.

Since emerging in 2016, Bound In Fear has steadily built a reputation as one of the more punishing forces in modern deathcore. With A Mind Too Sick To Heal, they are not expanding outward. They are digging deeper into what they already do, refining it, sharpening it, and pushing it further into darker territory.
