The Happy Fits bring the Lovesick Tour to Milwaukee

The Happy Fits

The Happy Fits are arguably one of the most energetic bands that I’ve seen live. There is so much life and energy when they are on stage, and I love that not only do the four band members share vocals, but the frontman, Calvin Langman, also plays cello at the same time. I can’t help but be in awe of this group because cellos are not small instruments, and to be able to play an instrument of that size and weight while singing at the same time is incredible. I saw them back in 2022, I think opening for The Maine, and they were so amazing that I knew this group was someone I wanted to photograph one day. The vibes were genuine and authentic. I knew that everyone in the room clearly loved this group. Even though it was a Monday night, the room was very full and packed in from the very start. Everyone showed up early to secure a good spot in that tiny barroom. It’s always a fun sight to see people excited for smaller acts.

Before they played, the opener by the name of BEL took the stage. She was ethereal and beautiful; there was a power inside her gentle softness. I did not know who she was, but she was amazing. I loved her gracefulness as she commanded the stage while telling the crowd to dance and have fun. Those packed in the front of the stage answered by jumping and waving their hands around.

After her set, the stage was changed over, and the entire room went dark. The crowd cheered, and everyone entered. The band came out in full energy. The music kicked in immediately, and it was in full chaos from the start. Between songs, the band was making conversation with the crowd and asked about some tea regarding love. Someone in the crowd said their wife asked for a divorce after one month, which definitely made my jaw drop. Girly really said she changed her mind right away – big yikes! There was so much love in the room, and after they played their set, the obligatory “One more song” chant began immediately. They came out and played not one, but three more songs for the room. What a wonderful night of music, and what better way to start off a new week than with a concert that evening. Here’s to The Happy Fits and “The Lovesick Tour,” it’s still going on, so grab yourself a ticket to the show!
