Denver, CO – March 20, 2026 – ”This song is written about the love of my life and the journey of our relationship and how it’s transformed my life,” says guitarist Ricky Feria of the Colorado-based funk-n-soul outfit The Hip Snacks. “Written over 5 years after we met, the verse lyrics highlight how I felt in the early days of our relationship, and the choruses best describe the way I feel about her after many years together. This song was written as a way to profess my love for her in the way I know best, through the power of music and songwriting.” The band’s latest release, “When You’re Around,” honours ’90s pop icons such as Alanis Morissette and Sheryl Crow, intertwined with a punchy, sing-along chorus and a classic southern rock guitar.  

“When You’re Around” is the newest single from The Hip Snacks’ upcoming LP, Out On A Limb, due out on April 24. The band’s second full-length album, and a great step towards the national spotlight they deserve, Out On A Limb is all about taking that leap, trying something new, and thinking outside the box. The momentum of the idea is also part of the band’s origin story. Five years into their relationship, after deciding that she wanted to give singing an honest go, Durante performed with Suarez in front of an audience for the very first time. Taking that leap together led Durante and Suarez to relocate to Denver and find four other band members who’d also been taking chances and chasing dreams, and as they say, the rest is history. Before they knew it, The Hip Snacks were playing shows coast to coast and building a fanbase the old-fashioned way: by leaving it all on stage every night.
